Design Lead

As a Design Lead, you are insanely passionate about design and creativity. You must execute solutions across the design spectrum. You understand brands inside out and know how to push the boundaries. You can make the boring look beautiful using your natural instinct for visual hierarchy, grid systems, type, composition and space. You can work in a fast-moving environment on multiple projects at once. As well as having an insane passion for making things easy to understand and joyful to use as Design Lead we expect you to possess the following:

  • Core ability in digital design, including online advertising, social media and website design;
  • High level skills in general graphic design, including illustration and branding;
  • Confidence and experience with clients, including presenting, collaborating and negotiating ideas;
  • A generous, energetic approach to collaboration with the rest of the creative team as well as the technical team;
  • Not to be greedy, but we’d love a bit of animation and UX/UI capabilities, but this is not critical.

Key Responsibilities

Accountability:

  • Design solutions for graphic design communications across; branding and identity, print design, exhibition design and direct mail.
  • Design solutions for digital design communications across; social, display, web and email.
  • Accountability for accurate costing and estimating for projects and ensuring production and delivery meets allocated hours.

Design responsibilities:

  • Research design trends, tools and emerging items of interest to educate internal teams and clients.
  • Represent the creative team positively across the company by attending and contributing to internal brainstorming sessions.
  • Participate in a number of pitches.
  • Attend client-facing situations where you will represent creative expertise of the agency.
  • Develop tools and processes to continuously improve efficiency and quality.
  • Collaboration with writers, illustrators, photographers, printers, developers and makers of interactive things.
  • Lead, mentor and assist other designers.
