Kotikan rebrand their expanding mobile apps business

Category:

Background

Kotikan are Scotland's biggest and fastest growing developer of applications for mobile devices.

They have worked with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the National Galleries of Scotland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

Brief

Previously called Loc8 Solutions, the company have expanded from location based services to developing for the full range of mobile apps.

LEWIS were asked to develop a new brand for the company to reflect this evolution in their business and to reposition them from the ground up, including the following:

  • New name and branding
  • New website
  • Corporate stationery
  • New support marketing material.

The outcome

The company needed a new brand which would give a flexible platform for future growth and which would also be contemporary and appeal to new markets. The new name needed to be unique and easily recognised whilst fitting with their existing ethos.

We worked with the client at length to understand their internal culture and help them decide where to position themselves in the wider market. We then developed a full brand proposition and strategy.

We also helped with the selection of a new name, advising them throughout the process until an appropriate concept was found to represent the brand. The name Kotikan was the result of this process, along with the strapline 'Bringing life to mobile,' emphasising what the company achieves for their clients.

Finally the unique Kotikan logo was designed. The hand drawn typeface incorporates a full spectrum of colour, which can be seen across all elements of the brand.
